Metapragmatic awareness in children between 7 and 12 years-old, with specific language disorder, attention deficit disorder and typical language development [conciencia metapragmática en niños entre 7 y 12 años que presentan trastorno específico del lengu

This study aims to describe the development of Metapragmatic awareness in children between the ages of 7 and 12, who have been diagnosed with Specific Language Impairment (SLI) and Attention Deficit Disorder (ADD). In order to do so, they are compared to a control group of children with Typical Development (TD). To this end, the Metapragmatic Consciousness Assessment Test (CMP, for its acronym in Spanish) is used. The results show that children with SLI have epipragmatic behaviour in all age ranges studied. In contrast, children with ADD, as they age, develop similarly to the control group, achieving metapragmatic behaviours in most test items. As for the different types of exercises that make up the CMP test, a significant difference is observed in the dialogue item between the SLI and TD groups. The aforementioned result/evidence shows that not all items present the same level of difficulty for the assessed children.
